Overview
If you are already using an SEO plugin, CitedPro can import your existing data with one click. This saves you from manually re-entering business information, social links, and per-post SEO metadata that you have already configured elsewhere.
Supported plugins
CitedPro supports importing from six SEO plugins:
- Yoast SEO
- Rank Math
- All in One SEO
- SEOPress
- The SEO Framework
- Slim SEO
Auto-detection
CitedPro automatically scans for installed SEO plugins that have importable data. When a compatible plugin is detected, an import banner appears at the top of the Setup tab. You do not need to manually configure anything for detection to work.
What gets imported
Global data
The following site-wide settings are imported when available:
- Entity type (person or organization)
- Business/organization name
- Logo
- Social profile links
- Phone number
- Email address
- Address (street, city, state, zip, country)
- Open Graph default image
- Homepage title and description
- Title separator
Per-post data
For every post and page on your site, CitedPro can import:
- SEO title
- Meta description
- Canonical URL
- Noindex setting
- Nofollow setting
- Open Graph image and image ID
- Focus keyword
Tip
Only data that exists in the source plugin is imported. Empty or unconfigured fields in the source plugin are skipped. CitedPro never invents data during import.
How to import
- Go to CitedPro → Setup
- Look for the import banner at the top of the page
- Click Preview Import to see exactly what will be transferred
- Review the preview to confirm the data looks correct
- Click Import to proceed
Per-post data is imported using batch processing, so even large sites with thousands of posts will not experience timeout issues. The import runs in the background and reports progress as it works through your content.
Non-destructive import
The import process adds data to CitedPro only. It does not modify or delete any data in the source SEO plugin. After importing, both plugins retain their own copies of the data independently.
This means you can safely import, verify everything looks correct, and then decide whether to deactivate the old plugin.
Plugin-specific notes
Slim SEO
Slim SEO stores per-post metadata in a single serialized meta key rather than individual keys like other plugins. CitedPro handles this automatically by deserializing the data and mapping each field to the correct CitedPro setting. Image IDs stored by Slim SEO are resolved to full URLs during import.
The SEO Framework
The SEO Framework uses a different naming convention for its meta fields. CitedPro maps these to the correct CitedPro equivalents automatically.
Recommended workflow
- Preview first: Always click Preview Import before importing to verify the data
- Import: Run the import
- Verify: Check your Setup tab, a few post metaboxes, and your homepage metadata
- Deactivate the old plugin: Once you have confirmed everything imported correctly, deactivate the source SEO plugin
Important
Do not deactivate your old SEO plugin until you have verified the import. While the import is non-destructive, having both plugins active during verification ensures you have a fallback.
Dismissing the import banner
If you want to keep both plugins running or do not wish to import, click the dismiss button on the import banner. The banner will not appear again. You can always trigger an import later from the Tools tab.
